When a user of parent domain has visibility on child domain, what records of child domain are they supposed to have access to?

Hello,

I want to know more about domain visibility. 

 When a user of parent domain has visibility on child domain, what records  of child domain are they supposed to have access to?  Should they also be able to view the user records of child domain's users?

and When a user has of domain A has visibility on domain B, what does that generally mean?

Hello Hussain,

A small change in my reply. 

For example: if they click on the reference icon of fields such as 'requested by' which contains the user of child domain, should the user of parent domain be able to view the user record of child domain's user, when the parent domain is the current selected domain?

That's true Reeba. You may refer the below hierarchy structure for better understanding.

In the above hierarchy:

  *  Bow Ruggeri can see any records in the Database Atlanta or the global domain.
  *  Don Goodliffe can see any records in the Database San Diego or the global domain.
  *  David Loo can see any records in the NY DB or the global domain.
  *  Fred Luddy, ITIL User, Beth Anglin can see any records in the Database, Database Atlanta, Database San Diego, NY DB, or the global domain.

Hello Hussain,

Does the parent domain need visibility on child domain to see and manage child domain records? or can they see and manage child domains without having visibility?

Actually in our instance, the parent domain users are not able to view the child domain's user records,even though they have visibility to child domain.I t seems it was working fine earlier. Could you tell me what could have gone wrong? and what could be done to resolve this?

But can you tell me that for a parent domain user to see and manage child domain's user records, is it necessary to have visibility on the child domain? or does the parent child hierarchy work without requiring any domain visibility?
