When order guide submitted from service portal, autopopulate is emptying variables in RITM/SCTASK

We have a user info section(variable set) on all catalog forms. It was using script includes to populate user data into these variables. I recently moved from script includes to autopopulate. Autopopulate is working fine on catalog items and order guides in native UI, but when a order guide is submitted from service portal, the ritms/sctasks are missing the values.  Does anyone know why?
