When to use a tag vrs a new field

Hi ServiceNow community. If I want to flag all records that were created by a group of people, which would be the preferred method - adding a custom field to flag it, or using tagging? The main purpose is for reporting.
In this example, its any Story record that was created by a specific group of product managers.

@Mara2 : If the purpose is to just to report and doesn’t have any additional processing logics, we can make use of tags instead of custom field. Below is the article that explains it for your reference
