Which is faster, 'reset and wipe an instance' or release then re-acquire an instance?

for the developers instances.     is it faster to 'reset and wipe an instance' or to release an instance and then get another one?   i ask this because while acquiring sometimes happen immediately ,     reset and wipe can take hours.

I was mucking about with an app/update set load order problem a few weeks back.   I think I did 5 rebuilds in a single day, so I wouldn't be surprised if its a little over an hour.   I *THINK* I remember the instance being up and available before the developer.servicenow.com homepage caught up though.

Reset and wipe may be a good option if your browser history / bookmarks already knows the ID of your Dev Instance.

It takes a little bit of time to Reset and wipe, but it's not that long. Time enough to take a good coffee!

Thanks,

Thank you everyone for your responses.   This thread has been open for nearly 30 minutes and in the time of this discussion it is still being reset .     I guess I'd like to find out what the average time to reset is .     and if they plan to automate it if it is not already.     For now ,   Ill just wait ....

maybe they are just having an issue today.     We requested a reset of an instance between 7-8 cst this morning and it is still in reset status.   Thanks for your reply.
