We have EOL MID Server in our instance.

NOW we have installed a new MID Server with is Cloud Basis

Now Both (Old and New MID Server) is Showing UP and Active in ServiceNow Instance.

What Test is Required after the New MID Server Installation?

What to Do with Old MID Server ?

Can we have both Server Active at Same time ?

How to ensure that everything is fine after new MID Server Installation?

Hi @Anuj30 ,

When you said EOL MID , you are referring the MID host which is going to EOL ( may be it's on-prem ) and now you have new host over cloud and you have installed MID on it which is connected to same ServiceNow instance as old MID.

Your queries>>

What Test is Required after the New MID Server Installation? >> If status=up and validated = true, all set.

What to Do with Old MID Server ? >> You can transfer all old MID work on new MID and old MID will down once host decommision, once host is gone you can remove the MID entry ( if required ) from MID Server ( ecc_agent ) table.

Can we have both Server Active at Same time ? >> Yes, until you have old host active you can utilise old MID along with new MID.

How to ensure that everything is fine after new MID Server Installation? >> Transfer all work from Old MID to New MID one - by one and check the result. Make sure you have all required configuration on New MID ( same as Old MID)

-Thanks,

AshishKM

HI @AshishKM  any document that how can we Transfer all work from Old MID to New MID one.

Transfer all work from Old MID to New MID one - by one and check the result. Make sure you have all required configuration on New MID ( same as Old MID)

If you wanna talk, inbox me.

There is no specific document for MID work transfer as an admin/support team you/your team must know how many integration using this MID ( old one ).

If you know how many palces ( data source, integrations, discovery LDAP etc.) you are using MID at all, check one by one and find out all place where this old MID is added .... prepare a list and start transfering the work to new MID.

Do you want to retire the old mid server? if so then you need to make sure the new one is able to reach to all the connecting devices and tools. Compare the results from old mid server and check if you are getting the results with the new mid.

If you are keeping both of them then create a cluster and use it for failover or load balancing purposes.

Some times when we start a new mid the connections may not be okay with all the infra. As the old one might be waitlisted and can talk to infra.

Hi @Anuj30 ,

You must make sure , That Old Mid Server Having couple of below things, you need to check.

1. Firewall policy to be devices for which Mid Server is Using Like Discovery or Integration

2. Make sure you replace the Old Mid Server with New Mid Server wherever that is used in configuration Like Discovery Schedule, Credentials, Integration and Service Graph Connector etc,

3, Make sure and test the  whatever accessibility available with Old Mid Server that same will be available with New Mid Server.

4. There are nothing special test case mentioned to check with New Mid Server but you need check the Mid Server Configuration, Application, Capabilities and Properties added to new mid server as Old Mid Server.

After that You can disable and retire the Old Mid Server once you verified everything is working with New Mid Server Till the time, Please make it up and running old mid Server.
