Why fields are grayed out.

I created a table that extends task table. As a result if log in as a non admin user the fields from task are greyed out I could not make changes to the fields.

Hi Eric,
Check for the status of the ticket. If the ticket is resolved or closed fields would be grayed out i.e read only.
For better understanding look for client scripts or UI Policies or ACL's for checking the read only set up for non-admin users.

Please check the roles created (by default) for newly created table.

you need to add write ACLs for all the fields that coming from task table.
