Why Isn’t the Top Nav Bar Background Color Changing in My Variant Style Theme?

Hello,

My task is to create a variant style theme. The main theme is already created with all of its core style themes. There are many other variants under this theme, just like the one I want to create.

My issue is that with the script, all the buttons, tables hovers do change their colors as soon as I update/change the script. However, the top nav bar background color refuses to change. It has stuck in a color when I was copying a script over from another variant. For the background property, currently I'm using this code both under base and properties: 

"--now-unified-nav_header--background-color":  "128, 0, 128",

I have attached screenshots that show a picture and the full script/style I'm using. The background-color I want is a dark purple.

just change the theme of your portal
Service Portal > portals

select your portal change the theme to stock or other relavant theme
