Digital Product Release with Basic Maturity Model

Dear ServiceNow and Community,

I am interested in learning about experiences with implementing a Digital Product Release (DPR) process at a basic maturity level, specifically without integrating any external tools.

Has anyone successfully rolled out a DPR process in this manner within their organization?

If so, what benefits have you observed?

How useful has it been in practice?

Additionally, how are product teams effectively tracking tasks within the DPR framework?

Thank you for your insights.

Hi @onedapaone

Yes, In my provious organization have rolled out the DPR process as part of their project management or delivery frameworks.

While it can vary from one company to another, the general approach usually includes:

  • Tracking and metrics used to measure delivery timelines, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Scheduled reviews where the product teams assess current and future deliverables.

If an organization implemented DPR successfully they see various benifits:

  • It provides clear visibility into the delivery process. It helps track all ongoing work and how it's progressing against planned timelines.
  • also helps product teams identify areas of improvement in resource allocation and task prioritization. This helps in better managing resource bottlenecks.

DPR allow teams to visualize progress through Kanban or Scrum boards, making it easy to integrate with the DPR framework.

finally, The DPR process can significantly enhance the way organizations track and manage product delivery. The key benefits include increased transparency, accountability, and improved problem resolution, leading to more efficient and higher-quality product delivery.

Hi @onedapaone

Greetings!!

We haven’t implemented DPR yet, but I’ve done thorough research on it and wanted to share some awareness. Here are my key takeaways:

I am interested in learning about experiences with implementing a Digital Product Release (DPR) process at a basic maturity level, specifically without integrating any external tools.

Atul: Yes, you can start with zero or no integration. You can just map the changes and start using it.

Has anyone successfully rolled out a DPR process in this manner within their organization?

Atul: No, did not implement. but did research.

If so, what benefits have you observed?

Atul:

The first and main benefit is that it serves as a single-stop shop for all releases (currently limited to software releases).

  1. Reusability: Create and reuse templates repeatedly for efficiency.
  2. Policy: Leverage Out-of-the-Box (OOTB) policies, which can block actions if conditions are not met.
  3. Dashboard: A single dashboard is available in WS mode (note: DPR is only available in WS mode).
  4. Tasks: Tasks can now be created at the phase level, and approvals can be added in the same place.
  5. Product Model: The creation of new product models is also possible in DPR.

How useful has it been in practice?

Atul: Seeing its benefits, having one centralized place for everyone is useful.

Additionally, how are product teams effectively tracking tasks within the DPR framework?

Every product team can view the tasks assigned to them and the corresponding phases. Since you are still in the initial phase, providing good training would be highly beneficial.
