HR and IT Portals

Hi Everyone,

We have a requirement to build separate HR portal using employee center pro. IT team is using employee center and they don't want unified portal. We’ve built custom portal for HR; however, we’re encountering challenges in ensuring that each portal displays only its respective data. For instance, components such as My Active Items, My Tasks, and My Requests should show only IT records in the IT portal and only HR records in the HR portal.

Has anyone implemented this? Is there a recommended approach- for example, cloning and updating the relevant widgets, applying portal-level context or audiences, or using role- and table-based scoping—to filter content appropriately? Any best practices or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

To build separate IT and HR portals in ServiceNow using Employee Center Pro—while ensuring each portal displays only its own data—you need to rely on portal-specific widget configurations rather than user criteria alone.

This involves setting up dedicated widget instances, configuring instance options, and using page route mappings so that components like My Active Items are filtered based on tables or configuration logic, ensuring IT portals show only IT records and HR portals show only HR records.

You have to build your portal from scratch and customize the widget/page as per your requirement post cloning those components.
