Why do the oob esc_knowlege_home & esc_sc_category pages display categories rather than taxonomy?

As we are working on our EC Pro implementation, we are noticing that there is an inconsistency with the esc_knowledge_home & esc_sc_category pages displaying categories rather than taxonomy topics

As a result, our esc_search results page was configured through AI search to display our taxonomy but now the above 2 pages are still showing category.

Any thoughts on how to fix this or a different knowledge and catalog home page that would be more consistent?

Hi there,

The pages you are mentioning will not be easy to find in Employee Center. Unfortunately, also with a clean Employee Center you might find a link to these pages though 😞 And indeed it could be that you are directing to these for example due to your Search configuration.

Both pages are just (copies of) old portal pages, with old widgets, widgets which even have not been updated or in some cases not styled fully to Employee Center. I would consider these pages a bit of legacy.

Ideally your links would be referencing Topics in the Taxonomy instead.

Kind regards,
Mark

Thanks, if a user clicks on an article or catalog item, the page  (ie esc_kb_article_view) is configured to show  'breadcrumbs' on the top and if you click in the breadcrumbs you are now taken to the applicable esc_knowledge_home or esc_sc_category pages which are grouped by category.

Yes unfortunately that's the case with the breadcrumb widget when you have that on an article or catalog item page 😞

For two customers I've used a custom widget for this to avoid this annoying behavior. You could also use the HRM back button widget which is the default with Employee Center on the article and catalog item pages.
