Adding More Details to Record Cards in the Mobile App

Sometimes you may want to display additional information on a record card in the ServiceNow mobile app. For example, on the Work Order Task card in the My Work tab, you might want to show the Initiated From field.

Follow these steps to add extra field values to a record card:

 

Step 1: Open Mobile App Builder

  1. Navigate to All > System Mobile > Mobile App Builder.
  2. Select the relevant Application Scope.
    • For example: Field Service Mobile.

 

Step 2: Open the Target Screen

  1. In the list of screens, select My Work (this is where Work Order Tasks are displayed).
  2. From the My Tasks section, click on the My Tasks list screen (this shows the Work Order Tasks assigned to you).
  3. Use the Open record button to view a sample record.

Step 3: Access the Card and Template

  1. Click on the Work Order Task Main Card.

2. Duplicate this screen to work with both the Card and the Card Template:

  • On one screen, click Open in Mobile Card Builder → this opens the Card.

  • On the other screen, click Open record → select a template record → then click Open in Mobile Card Builder → this opens the Card Template.

Step 4: Modify the Card Template:

1. On the Work Order Task Card Template screen, click anywhere on the card layout.

2. Click the (+) Add icon where you want to place the new field.

3. Select Container, then click the (+) Add icon inside the container.

4. Select Text.

5. On the right-hand panel, under Display, verify that it is set to Field value.

6. Click Save.

Step 5: Map the Field in the Card

1. Go back to the first screen where you opened the Work Order Task Main Card.

2. Select the container you just added.

3. In the right-hand panel, under Data, use Mapped field to select the field you want to display.

  • Example: Initiated From.

4. Click Save.

 

Step 6: Verify in Mobile App

  1. Open the Now Agent mobile app.
  2. Navigate to My Work.
  3. Refresh the app.
  4. You should now see the additional field (e.g., Initiated From) displayed on the card, if the field has a value.

Result:

  • Before: Only default fields are displayed.

  • After: The additional field (e.g., Initiated From) is now visible on the record card.
