Contractor Groups Not Visible in Dispatcher Workspace (FSM) in Xanadu/Yokohama Releases

Hi Community,

In ServiceNow FSM, up to the Washington release, contractor groups were visible in the Groups section when selecting a dispatch group under "Type of Group". However, in the Xanadu and Yokohama releases, contractor groups no longer appear in this section.

I would like to understand how contractor groups are supposed to be handled in the Dispatcher Workspace in these newer releases. Has there been a change in configuration or functionality? Is there any documentation or guidance on how to work with contractor groups in the latest versions of FSM?

Any help or reference would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Sandhya Gurram  ,
I have not found any solution for this issue yet.

Thanks @NavedAkhtar , I tried modifying the resource filter and selected the contractor groups and then I can see my contractor groups on workspace. Let me know if this helps.

I was just working on an FSM rebuild and ran into a similar issue.
Here is what I found. Contractor groups are missing in the Dispatcher workspace because this workspace is designed to show only INTERNAL ASSIGNMENT GROUPS. (company tech's).

Why?
Contractor groups usually use the Contractor Portal rather than being managed through Dispatcher Workspace scheduling.

Contractor groups often "accept" or "reject" work orders themselves, so dispatchers do not directly schedule their individual resources.

The "Assignment Groups Covered" link in your dispatch group config associates them for territory or organizational purposes but does not automatically include them in the Gantt view.

Try this: If you are not using the contractor portal

If you want contractors to appear in Dispatcher Workspace as dispatchable resources, you need to:

Mark contractor groups as dispatchable by updating their group type to "Field Service Group" instead of "Contractor".

Add individual contractor resources (users) to the assignment group with proper scheduling/availability defined.

Configure Resource Schedules and territories for each contractor so they show as dispatchable resources.

⚠️ Important: This approach fundamentally changes the relationship. Contractors will now be managed like internal techs, including schedules and routes, which is not typically recommended.

OPTION2 RECOMMENDED.

Use Contractor Portal for assignment

Leave contractors off Dispatcher Workspace and continue to let them manage assignments through the Contractor Portal:

  • Dispatchers assign the work order to the contractor group.

  • Contractor group logs into the Contractor Portal, sees assigned work, and can accept or reject.

  • No need to schedule their individual time slots via Gantt chart.

This is the standard and recommended approach for most FSM implementations.
Let me know if this helps.
