Hi,
Even I have come across the same problem today. I have figured it out. This error occurs when the record with the particular Sys ID is not found in the look up table or when the field value which is unique/primary such as "number" is missing. You can check this out by going to the lookup table and filter out the records which have empty value for primary fields.
