For SAM specifically, give yourself sufficient time to collect entitlement source data. Don't overwhelm yourself with it either. Start with 1-2 publishers' worth of data to import, reconcile, and fine-tune before adding more. Ideally, if you have any SaaS apps you'd want to start there as its easy to configure connections and value is derived rather quickly.
