I have two control objectives that are linked together in a parent/child relationship. I would like to keep both control objective records, but unlink them so that they no longer have a relationship.
I tried removing by changing the Parent field in the child objective to none.
Is the best way to just deactivate the child objective?

If your goal is to keep both control objective records in ServiceNow but simply remove the parent/child relationship, you don’t need to deactivate the child objective, just clear the Parent field. The best practice is to maintain a clean Compliance Library. Inactivating a record will prevent the compliance score from being applied to it, so be cautious when inactivating child records that themselves have children.

Hi @taylordupre If you are unlinking the same then its fine
Because daily schedule job will run which will update the compliance score in each control objective and will not have impact later
