When does a control gets retired?

Hi all,
can you please provide me with scenarios where a control gets retired.
i have referred to most of the docs and couldn't find any doc/text related to controls retirement .

Hi Sujansathu,
The retiral is up to you. A control becomes retired when e.g. that Policy or Legislation no longer applies or the profile is no longer appropriate. At that point, you can retire the controls.

Richard is correct, but controls will automatically retire if the profile they are related to is inactivated or deleted.
