CIS - ITSM Certification

GOPI GADDAM

Hello Folks,

I want to pursue the CIS-ITSM certification. Before enrolling, I would like to confirm whether completing the CSA and CAD certifications is mandatory. If not, could you please share the link to enroll in the CIS-ITSM certification course on ServiceNow University?

Note: I have CSA and CAD certification vouchers, but my Webassessor account is currently in a frozen state, so I’m unable to schedule the exams.

Hi @GOPI GADDAM

No, CSA and CAD certifications are not prerequisites for the CIS-ITSM exam. You can go directly to sitting the CIS-ITSM exam if that's what you want to do.

It's impossible to book exams right now. There's a black out in place until November 18 because a new testing company is coming on board. (That's why you can't access your Webassessor at present.)

From Nov 18, all you'll need to do is go to the ServiceNow University site to book your exam.

Hi @samarthpareek24

I’m facing the same issue. I already had the CIS-ITSM badge, but after the transition to Pearson VUE, I am not able to schedule the exam using that badge. It also seems that some additional simulator courses have been added to the CIS-ITSM learning path, and it is now asking to complete all of those as prerequisites.

For CIS-HAM as well, they have added CIS-Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) as a prerequisite, and all of these changes were made without any prior communication.

Additionally, I found a Knowledge Base article stating that we do not need to take any on-demand courses to schedule the exam, but this does not seem to be the case currently.

Can someone please add their insights here?

Turns out i am also unable to book the CIS-ITSM exam today with Pearson because there is now a prerequisite to have passed CIS-CMDB. This was not the case when I started the certification training and before they moved to Pearson. Was this announced?  This is extremely annoying as I have already purchased the exam voucher and committed to getting the CIS-ITSM certification. I am not sure I can spend more money or time on this process if I need to get CMDB as well now. Can I get a my voucher exchanged back to $$$ if I do not choose to take the CMDB certification?
(apparently the r word is not allowed here for some reason)

Hi @GOPI GADDAM ,

It is not mandatory to complete CSA and CAD before pursuing CIS-ITSM. However, I recommend following a structured path as you start learning. CSA is the foundational certification that most ServiceNow developers aim for, so it’s a great starting point.

You’ll be able to schedule your exams through Pearson VUE starting November 18. For more details, please refer to this official article: Transitioning from Webassessor to Pearson VUE FAQ

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,
Anjal

Was this announced?  Is this just a cynical way for SN to make more money out of the certification process? This is extremely annoying as I have already purchased the exam voucher. and committed to getting the CIS-ITSM certification. I am not sure I can spend more money or time on this process if I need to get CMDB as well now. Can I get a r3fund of my voucher?
