We need to recommend the best approach for assets like docking station, headsets, mouse, keyboard, printers, UPS to customer in their environment.
We have currently uploaded the above assets in alm_consumable table and by default ServiceNow does not create a separate entry for each asset, rather it groups them by model and shows the quantity available for the assets.
Whereas customer wants to see all these assets as a separate records with type being updated against them like docking station, monitor, etc. ServiceNow has a table called cmdb_ci_peripheral where these can be uploaded against the type of each , but this will become part of CMDB, but it won't be tracked like an asset in that case, As I tested and ci created in peripheral table did not created the asset in alm_asset or consumable table.
Queries: Is there any relationship or sync available between alm_asset/alm_consumable/alm_hardware table cmdb_ci_peripheral tables?
what is the best way to track such peripherals - using asset or cmdb_ci_peripherals? any ServiceNow's recommendations on such cases would really help.
