change approver when approver not available

hello

I have implemented a flow that initiates an approval request whenever an HR case is created for a specific HR service.

I would like to inquire about the available options in the event that the designated approver does not respond, for example, if they are on vacation.

Could you please advise on the process for reassigning the approval request to an alternative approver in such scenarios?

Thank you.

A few strategies come to mind.
1)  Make Approvals Group Based vs User Based
This is my preferred strategy because it covers both sick days AND people leaving the company.  You've always got coverage from someone.

2)  Auto Approval
In Flow Designer you can set approvals to automatically accept or reject after a specific or relative duration.  Some orgs look at this like "You have X days to reject, otherwise we assume its ok".

A less reliable but EASY accessible way is to make people use delegates.  The question is how do you FORCE that when dealing with vacations and sick days.

Hi @Uncle Rob ,

Thank you very much for your response.

Unfortunately, I had already reviewed both options prior to submitting my inquiry.

The issue I am encountering is that the selection of a replacement approver is random, making it impossible to predict or establish a predefined group of approvers.

Additionally, the organization is not inclined to wait for a specific period but rather seeks immediate independence in this process.

I am seeking a solution that allows the user to add an additional approver to the related list and change the status of the previous approver to 'no longer required'.

Furthermore, an email notification should be sent to the new approver for their approval.

Do you know of any actions or solutions that can fulfill this requirement?

I don't know what you mean here.  Are you fully aware of the distinction between Approval and Group Approval?

Are you saying you're changing the approver of an existing approval here?
