How to automatically assign an HR Task to the "Buddy / Journey Mentor" in a Lifecycle Event?

Hi All,
We have a requirement where a client wants to automatically route an HR Task to the new hire's Assigned Buddy / Journey Mentor.
This task ("Assigned Buddy / Mentor") lives inside our Onboarding Lifecycle Event within the Pre-Hire Activity Set.
What we have tried/seen so far:
  • We noticed the "Can add other mentor" option in the Journey Configuration, but enabling it does not automatically map or push that Buddy into the template's Assigned to field.
  • When trying to hardcode or map it directly in the HR Task Template, we encounter the error: "The Assign to field must specify a user field."
Our Questions:
  1. What is the best practice for dynamically pulling the Buddy/Mentor user record from the parent Journey configuration into the generated HR Task?
  2. How can we automatically assign this specific task to that Buddy once the activity set triggers?
If anyone has successfully configured this type of scenario using Flow Designer, HR Assignment Rules, or Advanced Activity configurations, your guidance or a screenshot of your setup would be highly appreciated!

Where is the Assigned Buddy stored in the system. On User's HR Profile OR any other table?
