We are beginning to use ServiceNow more for tracking of some leave of absence related things - compensation, return to work, etc. Our leaves are outsourced through a different vendor, but wondering if anyone has any insight or best practices on how this is done.

For what I've seen you can provide a link to the vendor site in the HR Service for LOA.
If the third party system is setup to accept webservices, you could automate some of this by collecting the necessary information in servicenow then sending it to the third-party.
To fully automate the process, you will need to set up a bi-directional integration so that ServiceNow can kick off the process and then the third-party can let servicenow when it has completed.
