Using Direct status field we have suspended the case on HR agent workspace

Hello Community,
We have a issue, while direct changes happen on status field from WIP to Suspend it is auto changes to WIP after saving the case form on HR agent workspace. Using UI action is working fine.
Please let me know the issue here/ any root cause of this please provide the inputs to found an issue.

any before update business rule or flow is running which is setting the value again to Work in progress?

Check if any BR /script include is in place which causing the issue.
