Why implementation matters   . . . The numbers are staggering

100's of billions wasted/lost on digital transformation - not because of the technology - because of the execution.  In our recent AI learning days session, we shared some of the real-world pitfalls and patterns and lessons learned.  Here's the short version to help with some of the key takeaways:

📋Five Habits that separate successful projects from painful ones:

  1. Visibility and Alignment:   Get agreement up front - in the form of Vision and Mission:  That single sentence everyone nods and agrees with.  Then write it down - hang it up, and revisit it often and everywhere.  Your North Star statement isn't just a decoration - it's a set of guardrails for decisions and action.
  2. Focused Workshops:   Right people. Right purpose. Right roles. Define and identify scribe, facilitator, SME, and the LoE (Level of Effort) involved - assign seconds for the "other work" with regular check-ins.  Yes, AI can help with prep and follow-up, but it is not a substitute for the right humans and the right human skills.
  3. Action / Owner / Follow-Up Culture:  Every session should end with a review: Who's got it.  When it's due. Who's reviewing it (and yes, AI can help make and check that list).
  4. Align Before You Build:  Don't start with the tool.  Start with the vision.  the "why" the "who" the "how hard".  Consider a "pre-mortem" (what would it look like if it all failed?  OK then let's fix those failures before we get started. . .)
  5. Training and Evangelism:  Training explains the how. Evangelism explains the why.  That's what drives actual behavior change - the right learning and the right context.

Hoping this was a great session for you, hoping you'll like or mark helpful (below) and hoping you'll post with additional lessons, tips and comments.
