With IT workflows continuing to stay digital and employees working from home, data reliability is critical to resolving problems especially when teams and organizations are remote. Adding to this new challenge is the current trend where, IT organizations and their data become more siloed and complex leading to lack of collaboration, low visibility, and poor mean time to resolution. Having a reliable and well maintained CMDB is the key to laying the foundation for your digital enterprise.
ServiceNow Paris Release will launch with a focus on providing features to help organizations manage their data reliability and drive better value. CMDB Paris will have 4 main features:
• Multisource CMDB
• Service Graph Connectors
• Application Services Guided Setup
• Application service-enhanced query builder
Multisource CMDB
One of the challenges when importing data into CMDB was that it would be difficult to know the source of each configuration item (CI) data source. Multisource CMDB reveals the multiple sources that are feeding the CI attributes and helps through automated prioritization for the best CI attribute population so you can reduce the difficulties of your different data silos feeding incorrect or duplicate CI data to your CMDB.
Service Graph Connectors
Service Graph is ServiceNow’s new next-gen system of record for the Now Platform and all ServiceNow products and services. Service Graph builds on the CMDB and extends for even broader objectives like approaching data from a digital services and business process lenses. With Service Graph, third-party data now powers an ever-expanding set of mission-critical capabilities—everything from application portfolio rationalization, DevOps pipeline automation, and autonomous cloud operations through to risk assessment and mitigation, service ROI assessment, and more
Service Graph Connectors Program was created to achieve the mission critical capabilities required for many IT organizations. It uses the CSDM framework and many CMDB certification tools like Identification and Reconciliation Engine and Robust Transform Engine to help validate and certify the 3rd party data imported into your CMDB. Now you don’t need to spend time making sure it’s optimized and reliable with Service Graph Connectors. This list of partners we support for Service Graph Connectors will constantly expand. Service Graph Connectors combined with Multisource CMDB will drive ensure the highest data reliability so you can reduce time to repairing your data and more time getting the maximum value out of it.
Application Service Guided Setup
Customers face challenges of app service creation because oftentimes it was a manual and unguided process despite criticality towards CMDB visibility and in a DevOps led deployment world. With a streamlined and simplified Application Service Creation Setup there is now a standardized and guided wizard-like setup leading to increased productivity and more standardized data by adhering to the Common Services Data Model. The user can easily click and decide how to design and map an application service through filling out a simple to use form. The feature is robust and allows management of tagging for cloud containers and Kubernetes. It assigns a unique ID for each of the multiple sides of an application services for accurate CI identification. Included also is a dashboard that will provide to track and analyze your application services. The new application services setup will allow CMDB teams to efficiently map their application services for a better and more reliable CMDB.
Application service-enhanced query builder
The query builder is an already powerful feature for querying your CMDB relationships but the Paris Release will build upon it’s existing capabilities for an application service criteria or perspective. These enhancements will help you leverage your clean and reliable CMDB data for deeper insights and understanding. By including the ability to construct business relevant queries you can filter by application service criteria. Examples of queries that can be easily constructed:
- What Incidents have been raised or what changes are planned against any infrastructure components that any critical Application Services depend on?
- What hardware is supporting a Business Application (and its Service Offerings and their Application Services), and which of those use a particular OS or software title?
The new query builder will dramatically improve productivity as IT teams as IT admins can see application services and see associated incidents and change quickly. They don’t need to work backwards but can just do a simple query builder.
Tune into the Paris launch broadcast on October 6 to learn more about these features and enable your CMDB journey's success
