So, you're interested in a career in ServiceNow? Great choice!

Let me tell you about my journey so far. I am new to this unique platform myself, I joined ServiceNow about two and a half years ago with no previous knowledge about the platform!

Two and a half years, and five certifications later, I can say without a doubt that the impact ServiceNow had on my life and career is incredible!

Being a curious person and a nerd, I wanted to learn something new. But if I was dedicating my time to a new subject and planning on building a career on it, it had to be really good. In fact not just good but exceptional!
I had to do careful and thorough research beforehand to make sure that I was making an educated and profitable choice. I was concerned about the salary, volume of job offers, career opportunities, career growth, and most importantly the competitiveness of the job market.

"What do I do? Do I pursue a career in ServiceNow, or maybe I keep working in IT Operations, or switch careers and pursue Web Development since I already have some knowledge of the possible technologies involved?"

I came from previous IT experience, so you might think that's all you need, but there is a lot more to ServiceNow than just IT Service Management. My IT experience helped me with certain ServiceNow apps in the IT Operations Management area, and that is where I focused my attention, but there are plenty of other apps, like Customer Service Management, where you do not need advanced technical knowledge.

You can become a ServiceNow System Administrator or a Subject Matter Expert in Employee, or Customer workflows, like Customer Service Management, without previous coding or IT experience!

Are you not convinced yet? Ok, let's get to the next good part!

Obviously, I looked at salaries for different positions online and found out that ServiceNow roles were paid very well compared to other career paths. The company was growing quickly, which brought new job opportunities every day! Considering the number of customers using the platform and the number of career opportunities available for ServiceNow, I decided that this was the best choice for me!

Let's make a salary comparison, shall we?

According to Glassdoor, as a Web Developer, where you need to learn about website development, CSS, HTML, Javascript, PHP, .NET, and databases, you can expect to earn $63K/year.

As a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, you can expect to earn, on average, $80k/year as a base salary.

These figures will change from country to country and from city to city, but the pattern is the same, they clearly indicate a well-paid career, with less effort compared to other tech careers.

There is nothing wrong with becoming a Web Developer or a full stack developer, but you need coding/development skills and knowledge of different stacks, frontend and backend, to even be considered for a job, that probably will pay less than a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.

Becoming a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator not only pays well but most importantly doesn't require advanced or previous tech skills, all you need to know is to learn how to manage the platform on a day-to-day basis!
Once you have a solid understanding of how the platform works and how to use it efficiently, you can become a subject matter expert for a specific ServiceNow application, depending on your skills, previous experience, and interest.

"Ok, you convinced me with the salaries and the potential of the platform, what's the next step?"

The "Now Learning" platform takes you on a journey through the different paths, and I will write about each path in detail in future articles. For each of the paths you take and courses you will complete, you will earn badges and certificates that you can share in your Now Learning profile and with your prospective employer.

The common step on each path though is the System Administrator role.

System Administrators are responsible for maintaining and configuring the ServiceNow instance. They also create reports and workflows and provide support to end-users. To be an administrator, you should have strong problem-solving skills and be able to learn new concepts quickly. You enjoy helping others and making sure that everything runs smoothly.

Why do I need a ServiceNow certification?

Simple, to validate your knowledge of the ServiceNow platform and enhance your professional credibility in the job industry!

Certified ServiceNow professionals agree that their certification positively impacted their careers, promotions, and salaries.

ServiceNow is the fastest-growing enterprise cloud software company globally, and with this growth come a lot of job opportunities.
A ServiceNow certification will positively impact your possibility of getting hired for a specific position and earning a higher salary.

Can you learn ServiceNow without attending or completing a course from our Now Learning platform and still earn a job? Of course you can, but a certificate will boost your opportunity for a certain position and will put you on top of the candidate list!

You don't have to believe me, just do a quick search on Twitter or LinkedIn, with the #servicenow hashtag.

Our ServiceNow Community here, the Developer and Documentation portals and the ServiceNow Community YouTube Channel will help you a lot, but the Servicenow courses provide structured information, use cases, and scenarios that you get to practice through dedicated labs and simulators.

After passing the exam, the mainline certification will be the "cherry on top" / "the icing on the cake" to validate your experience with the subject and guarantee the employer that you are the platform's Subject Matter Expert.

Where do I start?

Maybe you are not sure yet, and you want to see what the fuss is all about. Maybe you don't want to become a System Administrator but you just want to know how to use the platform as a user and add that as an extra skill to your CV/Resume. In that case, we have the perfect course for you, completely free and with the perfect name to match it! This is a new, free course to teach you how to use the platform as an end-user. When I joined I was not so lucky as to go through the basics of the platform as an end-user.

Welcome to ServiceNow

This free course is ideal for everyone that doesn't want to become an administrator but wants to learn how to simply use the platform. You can try ServiceNow through this course and see for yourself how great it is to work with it. And what's even better is that you earn a badge and a micro-certification after completing this course, so you get to share with everyone your knowledge about the ServiceNow platform as an end-user!

I guarantee you'll love it and you will want to learn more about ServiceNow! That's where our next course comes in!

ServiceNow Fundamentals

The title you earn by completing this course is the Certified System Administrator I mentioned earlier. This is the first course I attended when I joined ServiceNow.

This course will teach you how to manage the ServiceNow platform from the administrator perspective so you can keep the platform up and running and become the go-to person for day-to-day operations.
Once you complete this course, you will have the opportunity to take the ServiceNow Fundamentals exam and become a Certified System Administrator. This certificate will boost your CV/Resume and will guarantee future employers that you know how to manage ServiceNow!

And the best thing is that this course is also free until the end of August 2022!!!

If you enroll on the ServiceNow Fundamentals course now, you can enroll for free!!! If you complete it by the end of August, you will also get the opportunity to take the ServiceNow Fundamentals exam for free!

You HAVE to take this opportunity!

The next step is to complete the course and get certified!
