Adding SNMP MIB Files

Hi all,
i just got an email from our Telecom Team, with a ZIP File including a lot of MIB and MY Files for our Avaya Equipment.
So i searched the Wiki and Community Page how to add this.
I found , that i need to go to MID Server -> SNMP MIB, Create a new Record , Submit and attach the MIB File. Sounds easy.

Form the Telecom Team, they told me to use the file (as there are actually 38 MIB and MY Files in the ZIP) with the name G700-MG-MIB.MY

So i did an kicked off a test discovery against a device with SNMP only.

Here my questions. Does Service Now also accept the Extension .MY ?
Is there anything else what i need to do ? Right now discovery is hanging , and the device (Avaya Gateway Server ) got classified as IP Switch.

The current process is SNMP - Identity which nothing happeneds.

Any ideas , thanks in advance

Frank

Doug,

Thanks for that explanation! This seams to be a common misunderstanding as I have a customer as well that uploaded a MIB file, thinking that it will discover the new device.

A page addressing this thing on the wiki would clear up a lot of questions regarding this, I think!!

Doug is correct as always. When a new MIB is uploaded, I would recommend restarting the MID server and look at the MID server log to see if there's any issue with loading the MIBs. In my experience, it's quite common that it'll barf on a MIB that was added without some minor corrections.
