Best Practices Filtering Specific VMs During vCenter Discovery

We currently run vCenter Schedules and are looing for Best Practices to filter specific VMs so they will not get processed and create CIs. One option is to filter the VMs based on the VM name containing specific information such as "test" or "copy". We have explored creating a Abort Business Rule. Additionally we have explored having a Tag created "ExcludeVM" and having a MID Server Script Include to stop the processing of specific VMs. The utilization of a Tag would provide a the ability to have a single MID Server Script include that would eliminate the processing of any vCenter record having that Tag defined. Are there any Best Practices or recommendations to accomplish this objective.

Hi,

You can try one more option by speaking to the Vcenter SME- If they have an option to not grant access for the service acccount used for discovery for those VMs which are not required on CMDB. I have seen it working for Hosts but for VMs not sure and hence mentoning to give a try.
