CI Install Status ... Absent?

I have over 88,000 CIs that have had their Install Status set to Absent.   Is there a Best Practice Guide for dealing with these?

  • Is it best to leave them?
  • Is it best to periodically prune them?
  • Or, should we have a job to Retire them after a period of time?

Some of the CIs haven't been updated since 2014.

Most likely what you are seeing are items that were found but no longer discovered. Items such as running processes comes to mind.   You need not worry about these, we set them to absent so to save cascade deletes on your system....



If possible try not to focus on base items ALL ... Look to your base hardware classes for your management..
