I have networking devices in my cmdb and I am missing with serial numbers for few devices but could also see there are serial number few other devices,

Why it missing for few and others populating the serial numbers for same manufactures?

How I can populate the serial number to the devices which is missing?

Do we need identifiers to be configured ?

Hello,

This thread will help you,

https://hi.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0695986

During Discovery, the serial number types are searched for in the following order: system, chassis, UUID, and baseboard. The first one that has a value that is valid (not in the Invalid Serial Number table) is populated on the form.  All of the Discovered Serial Number types are populated in the Serial Number table [cmdb_serial_number].  More details in the following community article:

Diving Into Serial Numbers...Diving Into Serial Numbers...

For example, during the discovery of this workstation, 4 serial numbers were found and updated in the Serial Number table [cmdb_serial_number].find_real_file.png

Since the system serial number type was the first valid one found it is populated on the form.find_real_file.png

If my answer is helpful mark correct!

Hi, First point to debug is your ECC queue input. Check if the identifier/classification probe is giving you the serial number or not. If pattern then check pattern log for serial number step. Thank you, Ashutosh
