Discovery issue with classification, sysObjectID is not returned with SNMP Classify OIDs.
I have an issue where I am not able to classify a network Switch (Message: Active, couldn't classify). Usually when I have classification issue with the network related device, I add the "sysObjectID" (Oid) to the "Discovery Defination-> SNMP OID" which generally resolves the issue.
However, here I am not getting the "sysObjectID" in the OIDs returned from the switch? I loaded the mibs as well (Mid Server ->SNMP MIBS) to no avail.
The device I am trying to discover is HP 12518AC (HP 12500 Switch; oid = 1.3.6.1.4.1.25506.11.1.112)
Just wondering anyone else has experienced this issue and how you resolved it.
Thanks, Faisal

Just getting back on the issue I was experiencing.
Usually when a network device is not discoverable. I add the OID to the appropriate Classification such as "Standard Network Switch".
However, in the above case described, I was not getting the OID (sysObjectID).
As a work around (temporary measure). I modified the "classification criteria" for "Standard Network Switch"
Matching Criteria = Any (default is All)
In related list (Classification Criteria) added: Source IP = IP Address of the source device
Important: Once the missing devices were discovered, change the setting back to default value because it could cause an issue with discovering other devices.
Hopefully this helps someone:-)

Hello,
I am also trying to run discovery on many network routers and have no idea what to do next. Do you have any hints, tips or tricks you can share? Thank you

There are some good documentation on wiki that I can point to. If you are just starting out, the link below to videos may be helpful.
A lot of discovery related problems are due to Credentials or Networks/Firewall.
I am wondering what is the issue you are experiencing, you are not able to discover the devices? If you tell me the issue I will try to point you to the right direction or try to answer it as best as i can?
