Discovery of Cisco Stacked Switches - New York

When we Discover a Cisco Stacked Switch, it does not create 1 CI for each switch in stack, but 1 CI, with information about the other switches in stack.   Our network team would like to have 1 CI for each with a hardware relationship showing how they are in a single stack. They want each switch in the stack to have a unique serial number.

Is this possible with out-of-the-box Discovery functionality?
I've done some research, but not finding anything useful for us.

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Is the Stacked Switch pattern enabled? Are you using probes or patterns?

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi,

Using CISCO Catalyst ServiceNow App we are still struggling with the issue detailed by @David77 regarding Stack Switches : they still appear concatenated in ServiceNow CMDB with serial numbers as information.

Any ideas?

Ashutosh, good question!  We were using probes/sensors, but we just did the migration to Patterns in a non-PROD, using Orlando.  WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!

Patterns sees each device in the stack ... unfortunately, it labels some as "slaves", where I'd prefer it say "secondary"/

Thanks!

Yes and Yes.

Ashutosh, we recently converted to Patterns in a non-PROD, and what a difference!

Discovery of stacked switches is 100% better.

Now, if only all SNMP Discovery was converted to Patterns - we struggle to know which SNMP Discoveries were converted, as unlike other Discoveries, it seems SNMP does not have message containing the word "pattern" in their logs to let you know.

Is there a definitive list of what has or has not been converted?

Thanks.

Hi,

On docs you will get to know that.

Thanks,
Ashutosh
