Discovery of Cisco Stacked Switches - New York

When we Discover a Cisco Stacked Switch, it does not create 1 CI for each switch in stack, but 1 CI, with information about the other switches in stack.   Our network team would like to have 1 CI for each with a hardware relationship showing how they are in a single stack. They want each switch in the stack to have a unique serial number.

Is this possible with out-of-the-box Discovery functionality?
I've done some research, but not finding anything useful for us.

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Is the Stacked Switch pattern enabled? Are you using probes or patterns?

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hi,

Using CISCO Catalyst ServiceNow App we are still struggling with the issue detailed by @David77 regarding Stack Switches : they still appear concatenated in ServiceNow CMDB with serial numbers as information.

Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

I would suggest to look into the 'Cisco API Application' in ServiceNow store. I am aware that 'Cisco API Application' will collect whole lot of information from Cisco devises than SN Discovery including Apics, Leaf,Spine and Fabrics etc.

Hope this helps.

What we found is the primary server will be a CI without serial number appended to the name, and then all the other switches in the stack will have the same name as the primary, but with serial number appended to ensure the CI name is unique. Like this

primary_switch_CI_name
secondary_switch_CI_name_serialnumber

Any idea of CISCO plans / roadmap regarding there Service Catalyst App?

Current App behaviour is a problem for correct CMDB Synchronization.
