I'm sure this has been asked before but if I have an OOB discovery pattern and set one of the steps to inactive to prevent collecting unwanted data, is that considered customization? And if so, if I set it back to active and attempt to update the pattern through the store updates, will it update? I want to shut off collection of next hop routing without modifying our pattern

Hi @Jeffrey Welch,
Yes, setting a step in an Out of the Box (OOB) discovery pattern to inactive to prevent collecting unwanted data is considered customization.
For any customization, it's recommended to use the extension section and avoid modifying the core pattern. However, if you need to, duplicate the pattern and make it your own. Also, migrate all classes to patterns. Simply flipping the active flags on the pattern and disabling the probes can lead to problems.

If you changing in OOB , if the patterns upgrade it's reverted back to original.

it is my understanding that updating discovery patterns will pass over any patterns that have been modified, not update them back to their original OOB state.

Hi,During upgrade your pattern will be skipped , if there new addition for those OOB patterns it's shouldn't be updated to your pattern.
