Hi Everyone,
In my current environment, we have noticed that WAP devices are classified as IP switches and polled to IP Switch [cmdb_ci_ip_switch] table.
They should ideally be polled to Wireless Access Point [cmdb_ci_wap_network].
1. is changing the table from IP Switch to Wireless access points recommended.
2. If I delete the OID entry in the snmp classifications table and do a quick discovery, will it create a new entry in the SNMP Classifications table.
3. I have created a classifier for wap devices on wireless access points table, what should be the classification criteria, what trigger probes should I include here.
4. I deleted the SNMP OID which was pointing to wireless access points table (I created a classifier for WAP devices and changed the table to point to wireless access points table) and did a quick discovery, and it is discovered as IP Switch but has not created any SNMP System OID, is this expected behavior. If yes do we need to create SNMP OID in the SNMP Classifications table.
5. if there are no snmp OID's, on the first discovery will they be inserted in snmp OID table automatically or manually create an entry
6. modifying the class in the OOB classifier will have any impact, is it recommended
this is because the OID's are pointing to Routers and Switches table and I changed to WAP table
7. under the wap classifier, any snmp OID classification pouting to other tables like switch, router should they be changed to wap table?
Apologies, if you see some of these queries are repeated
Request your help here.
Thanks!!
Regards,
Krishna

Did you check the order of your snmp classifiers? If the device answers "yes" during classification to the "can switch" question then it'll be classified as a switch... it'll never get to the access point classifier.
Change the order to have network switch run later... and ensure your system oids (sysObjectIDs) are up to date. This is not a question for support.

Agree with Ryan.. i think the issue might be with the OID attached with different table in OID table.
Thanks,
Ashutosh
