Is anyone else having problems with their discovery schedules not finishing? I have a total of 3 schedules that I am currently developing for the main corporate network, but two of them never finish - they always have 2-5 that were started but not completed.
I have restarted the MID server web service within the GUI, and I have rebooted the MID server itself; or rather I requested the appropriate Midrange Team to do this for me.
Any thoughts or suggestions before I open a HI ticket?
Thank you,
Melinda

These two have never finished, and yes, I am getting errors too. Thank you both for your assistance, and I will work through these steps next.

Hi Melinda - what is the size of the IP ranges you're using? I've found that /23 blocks (512 IPs) seem to be the "sweet spot" for Discovery, whereas /16 blocks (64,000 IPs) seem to run forever and "never finish" as you indicate.
Aside from that, are you seeing any errors in the log on the Midserver? You may want to check the logfile from within the "logs" folder on your midserver.

Yes, I definitely think the number of IP Addresses is the problem as I have 35 ranges listed on one schedule, but each of them has roughly 256 IPs each!!

I'm with John here - could you create a smaller range that contains only some of the the machines that never "finish"? You mentioned you were seeing errors - are you looking at the ECC Queue, or the log file on the midserver itself? Any information you could provide on those errors would certainly assist in the troubleshooting process.
One additional thought - is it possible that some of the IP ranges within that schedule are located a great "distance" from the midserver carrying out the Discovery activity? A discovery running out of the US on a site in the UK would have many more hops along it's path than say, a Discovery running out of New York City to Detroit.

Hi Dan, thank you so much for your help!!
This was originally setup by the client I support, so I am working through what they did versus what I need to tweak.
Yes, I will go ahead and create a smaller range that contains some that are not finishing, and will post the results.
Sure, I can include the errors as well. There are no errors on the ECC Queue - I am seeing them on the Discovery Log itself, or on the Devices - most of these appear to be credential issues, which I will work with the server owners to address.
