I would like to understand how far Service mapping supports hybrid model?
For example:- we have cloud discovery for Azure, which fetched meta data for cloud database, and since, these are Azure PAAS feature, there is no underlying IP address, host machine, or even DB ports that are being fetched.
Now, one of on-premises IIS server is pointing to Azure DB (PAAS), and even though, manually, we can see the IIS config is pointing to database host, which exists in Cloud database cmdb_ci table (not in MS SQL table); Service Mapping failed to create any relationship from IIS to Cloud database. None of IIS pattern from connection section is pointing to cloud database, even if they do, it would require host,IP address, port which is not applicable for PAAS resources, which basically means even custom pattern wouldn't be possible (right?), I don't see any entry point for "Create connection" operation which we can leverage for Azure PAAS resources.
At the end, I am wondering is ServiceNow Service Mapping designed to support hybrid model? what am I missing? Is there any

Hi @anand9,
We are in the same situation now, wondering, if you were able to figure out, how to Service Map Hybrid Services? In our environment, we have Service Map for a service hosted on-premise and now some of the resources for that service are on cloud that we are discovering via Service Account based discovery and we are doing tag-based Service Mapping. However, not sure, if we'll be able to Service Map this hybrid service using the Tag-based approach, considering, the partial service map (for on-premise) already exists created via traffic based discovery.
Any insight/input from you is really appreciated.
Regards,
Deepak
