ESX Servers Install Status is marked as Installed after changing it to Retired Manually

Hi All

We have few ESX servers which are marked as Retired manually by the corresponding team after decommissioning them. But when Vcenter discovery happens, MID servers are marking those devices Install Devices status back tp Installed. Is this an expected behaviour?

Hi All

We are encountering a similar issue with the Vcenter discovery process changing the Install Status back to Installed (the default).  We update the Install Status on our ESX servers to In Maintenance when changes are being applied to them and the Vcenter discovery process is changing this back to Installed.   There are processes that are skipped when the Install Status is In Maintenance, which is what we want.  The Vcenter discovery process changing this back to Installed is causing these processes to execute and is unwanted.

Did we get any solution to this. We are also experiencing the same in our environment.

So you manually set the retired status, but the machine is still up and configured when discovered. Doesn't sound like its actually retired.
