Getting "No credential would validate for https://10.xxx.xxx.117/sdk" error when discovering vcenter devices

Hello All,

  • I am getting "No credential would validate for https://10.xxx.xxx.117/sdk" error while running a Quick Discovery to discover vcenter devices.
  • I tried testing credentials for VMware, but in DEV instance it gives me an authentication failed error, but runs successfully in QA with the same username and password.
  • Also, the quick discovery works fine in QA instance, but the above error appears in DEV instance.

Please suggest how to get rid of this error, without having to reinstall the mid-server.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sanket Shinde

The other thing that can be going wrong is that the credentials failed to load, for whatever reason.

Do any credentials work anywhere, or is it just this one device that craps out?

If they all fail, you can start by touching any credential to trigger another reload, then see if things got any better. If not, you can look in the agent log for recent comments regarding credential load.

If it is that, we can start talking about how to debug it.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for your response...

Yes, the credentials are good for all the other discoveries, for eg. the windows server etc runs fine discovered using the same mid-server also in the DEV instance.

Its something to do with the vcenter discovery only.

Also, since I have limited knowledge on discovery, request you to clarify what exactly you mean when you say "you can start by touching any credential to trigger another reload".

What exactly I need to do?

Thanks in advance.

HI,

Is this vCenter hosted on Windows machine or Linux Machine?

If on linux machine then you need to authenticate with Linux machine and make sure that the port 9443 and 5480 are open to allow this vCenter discovery.

Thanks,
Ashutosh

Hello Ashutosh,

The vCenter is hosted on a Windows machine.
