Hi all,
I created a Barcode field into our Hardware Asset Form within the Asset. I've set the attribute to be enable barcode scan. As per this KB aritcle
I've seen a second article outlining about doing it from form layout, although Asset does not appear to be an available module on mobile?
What I have done is created a form, as a service catalog item, so guys in IT can access from their phone. The idea is they can barcode scan deliveries, and it will auto populate into our Asset module.
My workflow is working fine, if I manually enter the barcode through the catalog item, the asset record is created and the workflow then updates all the fields I want.
Just cannot get the "barcode" icon to appear on the form within the catalog item on mobile app.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I don't think you can enable mobile scanning on anything other then fields in a table. You need to enable mobile for your asset module to get the barcode scanning to work for the filed you enabled it on. This blog post may help.

Thanks Brian, that blog post was amazing.
It was just making the app menu available for mobile that was holding me back:)
Also created a new view for mobile that just has the barcode for the team.
Ran a few tests there and have hardware assets populating through flows via barcode scan.
Pretty happy with that considering I only had the idea for it this morning 😄

Hi Dan,
The Barcode option does not work on reference field, by any chance you set the attribute barcode enabled on any reference field?
Do try setting this with sting field, it will work.
Thanks, Aditya

Hey,
Sorry if I miscommunicated, but I did create the Barcode field as a String type in the dictionary
