How to Become a Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery (CIS-Disco)

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my experience on how to succeed in becoming a CIS-Disco.

The recommended steps provided will give you the confidence to pass the examinations on your first take.

1. It is assumed that you have already taken and succeeded in passing the certified system administration (CSA) exams. If you have not done so, please follow my guide on How to become a Certified System Administrator.

2. Follow the training path of CIS-Disco mentioned on this link - you can either choose instructor-led training (ILT) or on-demand.

3. I strongly suggest prior to taking the Discovery Fundamentals go through and learn CMDB Fundamentals, the step will give you a firm foundation on how CMDB works and a grounding to ITOM Discovery.

After you have completed CMDB Fundamentals, you will earn two micro-certifications (Configure the CMDB and CMDB Health).

4. Have a thorough reading of the ITOM-Discovery documentation, it will consolidate your knowledge of ITOM-Discovery

5. Read the latest release of the exam blueprint, the paper will give you the official recommended ServiceNow training.

6.  Purchase the practice test found in certs-hero, the exercise will give you a feel, familiarity, and validation of your knowledge. I suggest cross-checking the answers.

Additional notes

The steps are not a replacement for the ServiceNow journey map but a complimentary to guarantee your exam pass and strengthen your skills both in CMDB and ITOM Discovery.
