How to find logs of table update

I have a situation where some entries have been added in Department table and I am not able to trace how they came there.
I have checked the transaction logs, but it doesn't show any log for a values got inserted.
Could anyone please suggest how to find that?

checked the created by and updated by fields? That could provide some information .. Maybe a scheduled import ??

It doesn't help much I checked that, it tells it was created in Sep 2013 and updated by admin.

Do you have any LDAP data source or something of that sort???

Sorry forgot to mention no LDAP sync or any automated import.
I am just wondering if there is any way to find in logs, if there are some ways to check in logs.
