How to read Location and Organization info from printer discovery.

Hello everyone. We're in the process of starting to run discovery on our MFP's. The service owner has added information into them with location and organizational info, see screenshot (Screenshot is from the printer config page). OOB discovery does a great job of getting info from the printer, but Location and Organization Information is not being read, and it would be very useful to populate with in the Description field. Any tips on how I should proceed?

Hi @ITOM-Matti ,

You must set the location in Discovery schedule which you are using for Discovery of Printer, Also you can see the discovery status and check which discovery pattern is going to use and debug the same .

you might be customise the Pattern for Discovery or required to add the extension pattern in it for get the required details.

Refer the below docs which help you.

Hi, we do already assign a Location in the schedule, but that is for which industrial site the device is located. The information we are wanting to get out is info that is added directly to the printer device upon delivery, which building and organization. But I do believe we're halfway there, going to do an snmpwalk and see if I can extract which OID's are behind those 2 fields and then add custom probe. We want that information added to the Description field, for Field Supports information. Will update this post with how once I've figured it out.

Hello @ITOM-Matti
Were you able to solve it? We have a very similar requirement and we are not seeing the information in the discovery classify phase.

Any guidance in this case will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi @GB14 , no unfortunately not. We did an snmpwalk on the printer, and we could not find the field at all. We ended up having to do an import of an excel sheet that the team which installs printers use on the side to add that information to the discovery data.
