may be you can duplicate the variant and hide it

Refer servicenow Documentation on it: Configuring Express List views for users and user groups
Filter the Express List display by adding or removing fields
- Navigate to Workspaces > Service Operations Workspace.
- Click the Express List icon in the primary navigation panel on the left.
- In the left-hand filter pane, click the Edit filter attributes icon (gear/settings icon).
- An Edit filter attributes dialog box will open showing a Fields tab.
- Locate the Priority / Priority Group field in the right-side Selected columns list.
- Click the remove button to move it back to the left Available columns list.
- Click Save or Apply to update the filter pane layout.
