Is there a way to use CyberArk's API for external credentials vs installing agent on each mid server

We are using CyberArk for our external credential store for some of our credentials. Currently, we have the CyberArk agent installed on each MID server that needs to access CyberArk. CyberArk now has an API that can be used and is being used in other environments in our organization.

Is there a way we can use CyberArk's API to access the credentials from CyberArk instead of installing the agent on each MID server?
