ITOM for monitors, docks, keyboards

Curious if anyone’s had success using ITOM to discover peripherals connected to laptops or desktops — things like monitors, docks, keyboards, etc? It seems like something you could piece together with custom patterns, but I’m wondering how reliable it actually ends up being, and whether its really worth the effort.

I think you will spend ages to cover all peripherals... I would start with f.e servers and pattern extension and check wmi classes and registry classes, to get monitor or keyboard, and there will be differencies in OS and the question is to which SN table you will fill the record.

In my opinion, too much effort for too little result.

Thanks — that’s what my gut was telling me too. Even if the effort to pull the data wasn’t outrageous, I’m also thinking about how tricky it would be to reliably identify a lot of these peripherals. I’d probably end up creating a bunch of duplicates. Just feels like more headache than it’s worth.
