Hi,
I would like to know what the reasons for ITOM Visibility usage could be to drop off after an upgrade to Washington DC.

Hi @bushra_k ,

ITOM (IT Operations Management) and ITOM Visibility are both components of ServiceNow's IT Operations Management suite designed to help organisations efficiently manage and monitor their IT infrastructure and services. Here's an overview of both:

1. **ITOM (IT Operations Management)**:

ITOM is a set of integrated tools and functionalities within the ServiceNow platform that enable IT teams to automate and streamline various IT operations processes. It aims to enhance the visibility, control, and management of IT services and infrastructure. Key components of ITOM include:

- **Service Mapping**: This component automatically discovers and maps the relationships between various IT components, such as servers, applications, and databases. It helps organizations understand how different elements are interconnected and impact service delivery.

- **Event Management**: Event Management provides intelligent event correlation and analysis, helping IT teams identify and prioritize incidents and alerts more effectively. It reduces "alert noise" and focuses on critical issues.

- **Orchestration**: ITOM Orchestration automates IT tasks and processes by creating workflows and automation scripts. It can be used for tasks like provisioning servers, handling incident responses, and more.

- **Cloud Management**: This component allows organizations to manage their cloud resources and optimize cloud spending. It helps maintain control and governance over cloud-based services.

- **Discovery**: ServiceNow Discovery automatically identifies and populates the CMDB (Configuration Management Database) with information about IT assets and their relationships, ensuring that the CMDB remains up-to-date.

- **ServiceNow Operations Management**: This module provides insights into the health and performance of IT services. It helps in monitoring and managing the availability and performance of services.

2. **ITOM Visibility**:

ITOM Visibility is a specific component of ITOM that focuses on providing real-time visibility into an organization's IT infrastructure and services. It collects and analyzes data from various sources and presents it in a unified dashboard. Key features of ITOM Visibility include:

- **Topology Mapping**: ITOM Visibility offers topology maps that visualize the relationships between different IT components and their dependencies. This helps IT teams quickly understand the impact of incidents or changes.

- **Service Intelligence**: It enables the monitoring of end-to-end IT services, not just individual components. This helps in identifying service issues and their root causes.

- **Event Correlation**: ITOM Visibility includes event correlation capabilities that help identify patterns and anomalies in data, making it easier to detect and respond to issues.

- **Integration**: ITOM Visibility can integrate with various monitoring tools and data sources to gather information, providing a comprehensive view of the IT environment.

- **Performance Analytics**: It includes performance analytics features to track and analyze performance trends and KPIs.

- **ServiceNow CMDB Integration**: ITOM Visibility is closely integrated with the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure that the CMDB is always up-to-date with the latest information about the IT environment.

Hi,

Are you talking about your SU comsumption dropping off? If so, my first thought would be that CIs are aging to the point that they are not considered to be actively discovered. Have your CI counts dropped at all? Maybe one of yuor MID servers is broken after the upgrade, or perhaps one of your integrations has stopped working?

If your CI count has not dropped significantly, I'd be looking at the classes that attract SU licensing (cmdb_ci_server etc) and reviewing the 'most recent discovery' for each of them to see if that date is before or after your upgrade. Also check the discovery source for those that haven't been discovered since the upgrade to see if that is consistent, It might point you to a particular integration that has failed, or maybe it will tell you that IP discovery has stopped (partially?) running successfully.

Regards,

David
