Mid Server Failover Best practices

We have 2 Datacenters and 6 hosts(3 hosts residing in each datacenter). We have configured Mid Servers to point out each of these hosts. We are planning to failover Mid Server from one data center to the other. Is it best practice to point out each of these host servers(primary and failover data center) to the same service now instance or do we require a different instance to the fail overed datacenter..?

Hello - there is no need to point the MID servers to different ServiceNow instances.  You instance has availability features provided by ServiceNow.  The only issue to consider is where / when to use each server.  Is it for just AD/LDAP integration, discovery, event management, orchestration, all of the above?

For discovery, you can create a load balancing or failover cluster within the MID server software, but for the other uses you may want to consider a different strategy like putting the MID's behind one of your own load balancers.

Thanks Nick!

Just wanted to confirm if we could have the same Mid Server User ID for all of these MID Servers in both the data centers ..?

Yep... that is no problem.
