Mid Server through vpn tunnel to ServiceNow

Can Mid Server be connected to Servicenow though a secure VPN tunnel instead of https and soap.
If so what are the requirements

I had the same question in my mind, but I doubt if this is possible. The wiki is pretty clear about that:
The ServiceNow network does not allow any inbound-to-ServiceNow integration or end-user-to-ServiceNow traffic to traverse a VPN connection. This restricted communication includes end-user access to the platform, administration of the platform, web services integrations, and other integrations that are configured to use a MID Server. All such inbound communication to ServiceNow must be performed over the Internet using HTTPS

as far as i know only LDAP traffic is allowed in the VPN tunnel.
Most customers use Mid server via Proxy to communicate with local network.
