Most recent discovery field

Hi All,

I have noticed that most recent discovery field is being populated only for computers, applications.

But its not being populated for other tables such as servers, other network devices.

Is there a way we can get this populate for all things which are getting discovered over the network.

Hello Brajendra,

From my understanding the "Most resent Discovery" (MRD) field should be the date an time that discovery last checked this CI, weather or not it updated it.

My recommendation would be to see if your servers and networks devices are being discovered properly in your discovery status logs.

However, I have found out in some of my CIs that I will see the MRD not updated, but the history of the server record will show that some fields have been updated. This leads me to question exactly what the MRD field really is and when it is updated.

Hello Brajendra,

There are two fields on CMDB which help identify as to when the CI was discovered.

1. First Discovered - This field gets populated when a CI is created by discovery.

2. Most Recent Discovery -   The field shows the Time-stamp when the CI was last discovered.

The general trend that we have observed in our Instance is that; Discovery is populating both the fields for the CI records which belong to Hardware. All the servers in our Instance have data in the two fields.

Other Classes such as Database (extending Application) do not have that field populated; may be because they are Instances (Applications) and Runs on some other servers.

Please mark the answer as correct, if it was really helpful 🙂
