Oracle Database Discovery not triggered after successful Linux Server Discovery

Hi Team,

I am working on Oracle Database Discovery on the Linux server:

The Linux server is discovered successfully through SSH and the Linux Server pattern completes successfully. However, the Oracle Database pattern is not getting triggered and we do not see the Oracle Instance being discovered.

During Discovery, we are seeing the following warnings:

Could not chdir to home directory /home/Service_Account_Name
No such file or directory

Also

Sorry, user ********** is not allowed to execute
'/bin/lsof -iTCP -n -P -F pcnfT'
as root on  Server_name.
Exit status: 1

We have already configured an Oracle applicative credential for:

Oracle Instance [cmdb_ci_db_ora_instance]

However, we do not see any evidence that the Oracle applicative credential is being attempted.

Could anyone please confirm:

1. Could the lsof permission error prevent Oracle identification and stop the Oracle Database pattern from being triggered?
2. What minimum Linux/sudo permissions are required for Oracle Database Discovery?
3. Is the missing home directory warning relevant to this issue?
4. What should we check to confirm why the Oracle Database pattern is not getting triggered?

Hi @Aman Trivedi1 ,

If the ora_pmon_<SID> process is present and successfully collected during the Linux discovery, the Oracle Instance Process Classification will recognise it and the Oracle DB on Unix classification will be triggered. The classifier specifically checks for a process whose command starts with ora_pmon_.

From there, the Oracle Instance details can be discovered and populated into the Oracle DB CI. So, if the ora_pmon_<SID> process is missing from the Discovery payload, the Oracle DB instance will not be classified/discovered.

You can check All>discovery_classy_proc.LIST> In name search for Oracle Instance

Hi @Vishnu-K I have checked the ora_pmon process..its present in our scope servers.
I am getting below error.

@Aman Trivedi1 If there is a corresponding process in the Running Processes related list for those servers, then the Oracle Instance pattern should have been triggered.

Could you please go to those servers and check the Running Processes related list, as shown below? This will help us confirm whether the Oracle process was detected and whether the pattern was triggered.
